Israeli police installed the metal detectors after an attack

Metal detectors installed by Israeli police after an attack

Metal detectors has been installed by Israeli police after an attack last Friday by three Israeli Arab gunmen at an entrance to the Temple Mount left two policemen dead.

The head of the he head of the Wakf Muslim religious trust in Jerusalem, Abdul Azim Salhab, saying he was speaking in the name of all Muslims worldwide, on Friday rejected the security cabinet's decision not to remove metal detectors at the entrance to the Temple Mount (al-Aksa mosque) compound.

Speaking at a press conference in East Jerusalem, Salhab said: "We are one. We all reject the measures to put in metal detectors. We reject the entrance of settlers to the mosque compound. We in Jerusalem represent 1.7 billion Muslims who say in one voice no to the metal detectors. We say no to the arrangements taken by the Israelis against the Wakf."

Israeli police installed the metal detectors after an attack last Friday by three Israeli Arab gunmen at an entrance to the Temple Mount left two policemen dead. The assailants were shot dead by police. While Israeli authorities say the detectors are necessary for security, Palestinian leaders say they are a violation of the status quo and are indicative of an Israeli intention to take over the mosque, the third holiest site in Islam.

The Palestinians have called for a day of rage Friday to protest the installation and security forces are bracing for a possible eruption of violence. The Israeli security cabinet late Thursday decided to retain the detectors and limit entry to the mosque Friday to those fifty years old and younger.

Salhab said: "We are the only authority in charge of taking care of the compound and its renovation. We will pray today behind the metal detectors or in any place where the Israeli police stop us. We ask Jordan to use all its cards to pressure Israel to avoid a catastrophe."

Meanwhile, Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas has called a meeting of PLO executive committee members and other leaders for Friday evening, PLO executive committee member Hanan Ashrawi told The Jerusalem Post.

She said the security cabinet's decisions were "generating more provocation of religious sentiments."

"This mentality of control, exclusion and exclusivity, attempting to change the status quo and impose its own control under the pretext of security on the Islamic holy sites and all of Palestinian Jerusalem is what enflames the situation. They are playing with fire." She said

In Ashrawi's view Israel is doing now at al-Aksa, what it did in the Cave of the Patriarchs (Ibrahimi Mosque) in Hebron over the years. "It is creating facts, encroaching gradually and taking over."

"What Israel is doing is telling the whole world that we do what we want with no consequences. It is actually arrogance that no matter what the world says and law says, we will use power, control and coercion."

Reasons Christians Should Stop Caring About So Many Causes

Caring About So Many Causes

“Many people come here and take pictures,” the elder told me as he leaned on his walking stick, his slender frame swathed in heavy cloth despite the heat. “Then they go away and never help.”
This is the moment that haunts me from my recent visit to Turkana, a region in northwestern Kenya crippled by drought and sliding inexorably into widespread hunger.

I’d stepped out of a small plane into a sweltering landscape of dry riverbeds and desiccated animal bones jutting out of the earth-a place so quiet without traffic and technology that a child’s plaintive wail seemed to carry for miles. A month later, as I recall this sobering scene, the elder’s words play over it like a soundtrack, telegraphing doubt that my visit would mean anything more than a photo op.It’s not surprising that Westerners have a reputation here for capricious compassion. But it pains me that Christians would.

If anyone should be known for not just showing up to help but for following through with real hope for suffering people, it should be followers of Christ. We are the ones commissioned by Jesus to go into the hard places, the hostile places, the ragged edges of our world, not just to proclaim the good news but to be the good news of God’s love in action. The hunger crisis spreading across East Africa, affecting more than 20 million people, is yet another opportunity to show who we are and whom we love.

American Christians are generous when confronted with dire need. But is our goal merely to pull people back from the brink of catastrophe? That’s not enough. We should strive for nothing less than God’s vision for his people described in Isaiah 65: “No more shall there be in it an infant who lives but a few days … They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit” (ESV).

When this isn’t our focus, we are prone to “cause ADD,” lurching from one crisis response to another. Fueled by media coverage and critical mass on social media, we embrace Kony 2012 and child soldiers one day and “Bring Back Our Girls”-the release of Nigerian schoolgirls from Boko Haram-the next. We care about refugees when there’s an atrocity in Syria and child trafficking when movie stars champion it. And all causes fade when a big earthquake hits.

Just over the border from Turkana, South Sudan was also once a cause célèbre. American evangelicals were highly engaged when believers in the South fought for independence from the Muslim-majority North. Now that the new country is beset by factional fighting-displacing 7.5 million people and creating a man-made hunger crisis-that support has waned. But today’s malnourished children in South Sudan are no different than those who suffered in the region’s 1998 famine. We didn’t follow through.

Being the hands and feet of Christ in our troubled world requires that we both pay attention and then stay intentional over the long haul. That means rushing forward in an emergency and remaining focused until we help repair, restore, and redeem every dimension of human life, achieving Isaiah 65 transformation.

The East Africa hunger crisis is our latest chance to prove that Christians can have a long attention span for compassion. To the Turkana tribesman, the starving South Sudanese child, and the wider world, we can be the people who always care, always give, and always follow through.

A Prayer Away

Today's Scripture: Psalm 143

Psalm 143 (KJV)

1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

4 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.

5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.

6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

7 Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

9 Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

11 Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.

12 And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.

Scripture Meaning

David complains of his enemies and distresses. (1-6) He prays for comfort, guidance, and deliverance. (7-12)

Verses 1-6: We have no righteousness of our own to plead, therefore must plead God's righteousness, and the word of promise which he has freely given us, and caused us to hope in. David, before he prays for the removal of his trouble, prays for the pardon of his sin, and depends upon mercy alone for it. He bemoans the weight upon his mind from outward troubles. But he looks back, and remembers God's former appearance for his afflicted people, and for him in particular. He looks round, and notices the works of God.

The more we consider the power of God, the less we shall fear the face or force of man. He looks up with earnest desires towards God and his favour. This is the best course we can take, when our spirits are overwhelmed. The believer will not forget, that in his best actions he is a sinner. Meditation and prayer will recover us from distresses; and then the mourning soul strives to return to the Lord as the infant stretches out its hands to the indulgent mother, and thirsts for his consolations as the parched ground for refreshing rain.

Verses 7-12: David prays that God would be well pleased with him, and let him know that he was so. He pleads the wretchedness of his case, if God withdrew from him. But the night of distress and discouragement shall end in a morning of consolation and praise. He prays that he might be enlightened with the knowledge of God's will; and this is the first work of the Spirit.

A good man does not ask the way in which is the most pleasant walking, but what is the right way. Not only show me what thy will is, but teach me how to do it. Those who have the Lord for their God, have his Spirit for their Guide; they are led by the Spirit. He prays that he might be enlivened to do God's will. But we should especially seek the destruction of our sins, our worst enemies, that we may be devotedly God's servants.

Scripture Application

Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we continue in the Book of Psalm with Chapter 143. In our text today we see theme of a prayer in the midst of hopelessness and depression. In making application we see that the Lord is always with us if we are saved.

When our situations seem to be overwhelming we can focus on our problem or the one who can solve our problem, the Lord Himself. How about you? Do you get depressed or overwhelmed when facing problems in your life? Let us learn from our Psalm and Text today to remember that our Lord is with us in the midst of our problems and is just a prayer away since He lives in the believers heart.

Conservative Catholic Facebook Pages Blocked

Facebook blocks conservative Catholic pages, calls it a ‘malfunction’

In an inexplicable move, during the past 48 hours Facebook has blocked or removed more than two dozen pages belonging to conservative Catholic organizations and individuals.

As of this writing, most if not all of the pages have been restored, with Facebook citing a “malfunction in the system” as an explanation.

According to Catholic News Agency (CNA/EWTN), a Facebook spokesperson said, "The pages were re-established. The incident was a malfunction of the spam detection mechanism in our platform. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

Most of the blocked pages had from several hundred thousand to six million followers.

The move affected millions of Catholics around the globe, with Spanish-speaking Catholics especially hard hit.

Many LifeSiteNews readers are familiar with Relevant Radio’s executive director, Fr. Francis J. Hoffman, whose Facebook page, Fr. Rocky, boasts more than 3.5 million “likes.”

Also among the blocked English-language pages is Catholic and Proud, which has six million followers.

Catholic News Service (CNS) reported that “of the known affected pages, 21 are based in Brazil and four are English-language pages, with administrators in the U.S. and Africa. Most of the blocked pages had significant followings - between hundreds of thousands and up to six million followers each.”

CNS added, “While it remains unknown why these pages were blocked, some of the page administrators have said they wonder whether they are being censored.”

Breitbart reported that “observers have suggested that the 25 pages are just the tip of the iceberg and actual numbers of blocked Catholic pages could well be in the dozens.”

In a posting yesterday, Fox News’ Todd Starnes, author and host of Fox News & Commentary, asked, “ So why is Facebook purging so many Catholic Facebook pages? Well, no one can seem to get an answer.”

“You might recall that Facebook has a dark history of blocking conservative and Christian pages,” said Starnes, adding that he himself was once “blocked for running afoul of Facebook's community standards.”

Starnes concluded by taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture: “Let's hope people of faith stand alongside the Catholics as they try to persuade Mark Zuckerberg to reinstate their pages - because one day Facebook might shut down the Baptist pages or the Lutheran pages.”

What Facebook has yet to explain is why conservative Catholic pages were the only ones affected by the “glitch.” Some have wondered if this might not have been a glitch at all, but a trial balloon of sorts.

Finding Mate Who Doesn't Have the Jezebel Spirit

How to find a Healthy Mate Who Doesn't Have the Jezebel Spirit

You will find vast amounts of people on the planet who're operating within the Jezebel spirit.

They're charismatic, physically attractive, showing effective leadership characteristics and therefore are attending places of worship while appearing godly, but would be the greatest disadvantage artists available. So how will you discern if an individual is who they appear at first sight and seem to be?

How will you make certain that the existing decision that's so critical isn't converted into a huge mistake that may place your very existence in danger? You will find signs to consider that are very disguised you need to discern and never look upon the outward surface but to determine within the spirit realm regarding who that individual is really behind closed doorways.

Individuals who are employed in the Jezebel spirit are Academy Award-winning actresses and actors who are able to fool 98 percent of those on the planet into believing those are the most loving and caring individuals. They'll do enough things for some individuals, mainly in the church, to help you think that they're charitable and providing while operating inside a deep, dark, sinister double existence behind closed doorways. Those are the essential Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde personality who is able to appear so debonair, and "existence from the party" while watching public, while demeaning and controlling you to definitely in which you seem like a mistreated puppet behind closed doorways. You are feeling like you're in a spy movie where everybody believes the star is a really caring, giving and loving person, but in the finish from the movie, he was the one that murdered all of the others unknowingly to everybody else.

What exactly are the signs to consider to find out if an individual may potentially be living a great lie and portraying themselves is the most loving person on the planet, while in reality, they would like to control every move you are making and lead you to bow for them and shut you lower in ministry?

They'd have become the track of either a parent who rejected, controlled and manipulated them (the greater hurt and discomfort-the more powerful the Jezebel spirit is going to be upon them-therefore if these were mistreated emotionally or perhaps physically or sexually, they would usually carry a serious Jezebel spirit).

They'll be very insecure because of not getting the security by their parents and can compensate by looking into making themselves look very confident and bold.

They'll be anxious (from fear that's been pushing them since childhood because the enemy continues to be whispering for them for life).

They are able to overcompensate within their lives because of the fear if you attempt to overpower others with regards to exercising to achieve physical strength and violence-they may also be very competitive in everything attempting to prove that they'll beat you at anything. They don't prefer to lose at anything and therefore are a real drag to become married simply because they can make everything a contest so if you're better their way at something then they're not going to wish to play that game or make an effort to do your work.

They'll minimize you so that they look great and you're feeling bad.

They're excellent at putting on a mask to hide the evil that lurks within them until there is a ring in your finger to enable them to take control of your every move once married and it is far too late.

They would like to marry someone attractive who'd be looked at "arm chocolate" and whom they are able to showcase to create themselves look great while watching public, such could be regarded as a trophy wife (or husband) while attempting to control their every move once married.

They're going to have strong, selfish sexual urges that aren't godly as they like bring pleasure privately and don't worry about their spouses' wholesomeness and godliness. They would like to dominate you in each and every way imaginable because they will need their selfish fleshly wants to be met and can lead you to compromise your godly values through their constant putting on you lower to provide into them.

They'll be very jealous individuals-particularly if you are speaking to someone of a potential partner-even proclaiming that you had been thinking about an intimate affair together when nothing might be more wrong. One lady informed her husband who operated inside strong prophetic gifting he could no more give prophetic words to women during worship because it wasn't proper. So from attempting to keep the peace, he'd to simply give prophetic words to men.

Additionally, you must provide time. When you get married inside a short time-frame, they can hide and safeguard the actual deviate person within them. Should you date them for more than a year and spend some time around them, then you'll begin to see the warning flags show up because they cannot ensure that it stays hidden forever. You have to discern within the Spirit by not only searching upon the top but seeing within the Spirit, and also the Holy Spirit will disclose the reality. The main reason they behave having a strong anxiety level is as they do not want individuals to uncover who they may be behind closed doorways.

They don't want you to definitely know they have lied for you many occasions already, are control freaks and can manipulate you at each turn to have their way, and also have a sexual problem that's very dark. They're constantly searching over their shoulders and seeking to pay for their tracks which means you cannot discover who they may be.

If you possess the Holy Spirit in your soul, then you definitely will be able to discern with a level a few of the warning flags. Oftentimes these folks can pray in tongues (or at best state that they are doing) and could be prophetic. That's the reason it so answers to spend just as much time together as possible before you decide to say I actually do. Can these folks ultimately get delivered in the Jezebel and Leviathan spirits? Yes, they are able to, but it's not easy. They have to admit for their dark behavior behind closed doorways and wish to be let out. I've come across thousands all over the world get free through my ministry and my book Restored to Freedom.

However, if you simply are searching to obtain remarried-you'd be best offered not marrying you aren't the Jezebel spirit since you will be connecting you to ultimately a really frightening, controlling person. God is on the go and desires His people to tell the truth, pure and righteous prior to the Lord.

Suspected India Hindu Extremists shot and killed Pastor in Front of Church

Pastor in India Shot Dead in Front of Church by Suspected Hindu Extremists

A pastor in northern India's Punjab state was shot dead in front of his church premises two months after Hindu extremists took offense at a gospel event celebrating his church's 25th anniversary, sources said.

Pastor Sultan Masih of Temple of God was found shot dead at Peer Banda Mohalla in the Salem Tabri area of Ludhiana District on Saturday evening (July 15). He was 50.

Masih was talking by phone outside the church building when assailants on a motorbike shot him, CCTV footage recovered by the police shows. His son Anoop Masih, discovered him.

"Anoop Masih heard the noise of shooting and came out of his room on the first floor," Raj Kamal Masih, youngest brother of the pastor, told Morning Star News. "Seeing his dad lying on the road, he screamed and alerted everyone in the church building."

Pastor Balwinder Kumar told Morning Star News that at about 8:45 p.m., Pastor Masih was inside the church building when he received a call. He came outside the church gate talking on his mobile phone, and he was shot in the neck by two youths on a motorcycle, Pastor Kumar said.

Family members believe it was a premeditated attack, with the assailants calling him and telling him to go outside.

Pastor Vishnu Dev, a close friend of Pastor Masih, told Morning Star News that until recently there was no major opposition to the slain pastor, but that in May he "took a bold step" and led gospel meetings commemorating the 25th anniversary of his church's founding. Pastor Kumar, whom Pastor Masih mentored, said representatives of Hindu extremist umbrella group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) objected to the event.

"RSS activists arrived there and started accusing the pastor of forced conversions," Pastor Kumar told Morning Star News. "They came to him to quarrel twice after the event, too."

The extremists were videotaping him as they accused him of paying people to convert to Christianity, he said.

"The feud was not so very serious that he had to be killed like this," Pastor Kumar said. "The RSS activists accused him that, 'You Christians get paid for converting people. How much do you pay the converted?' They were stiff and were not listening when Pastor Masih tried to explain it is not true."

The RSS members created a nuisance, but there was no fight, and they went away, he said.

Pastor Dev said the slain clergyman had told him he was facing growing opposition.

"He and his family are serving Christ for decades and they are at peace with everyone," he said. "But four days before he was shot, I met him, and he told me, "Please pray for us, as we continue standing for Christ, many enemies are standing up against us. Please pray for us."

Doctors at Dayanand Medical College, where Pastor Masih was taken after he was shot, reported that he received three bullets: one in his chest, one close to the neck and chest, and another on his cheek close to the ear.

Pastor Masih's brother, Raj Kamal Masih, said the family was in shock.

"My brother was a peace-loving man," he said. "We don't have any enmity towards anyone. Since over two decades my brother is serving Christ."

Salem Tabria Police Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar told Morning Star News that an investigation is underway, and that he body has been sent for an autopsy.

"We have no clue regarding the attackers," he said. "We are not certain about the motive of the attackers."

Commissioner of Police R.N. Dhoke told Morning Star News that a special investigation team has been formed.

"We are working on the evidences we could collect from the family and friends of the pastor, and I'm hopeful that we will trace the accused as soon as possible," he said. "There has been no history of communal violence in Ludhiana, nothing at this moment at least. The post mortem is being done. Even the post mortem report also will serve as crucial evidence."

Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took power in May 2014, the hostile tone of his National Democratic Alliance government, led by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), against non-Hindus has emboldened Hindu extremists in several parts of the country to attack Christians, religious rights advocates say.

India ranked 15th on Christian support organization Open Doors' 2017 World Watch List of the countries where Christians experience the most persecution.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Sunday (July 16) expressed "shock and pain" at the killing and said he assured Masih's family of government help. He reportedly said also promised 500,000 rupees (US$7,760) to Masih's widow and a job in the police department to his son.

The chief minister said he ordered state law enforcement to track down the assailants and stem elements trying to incite communal passions.

Almost Killed by ISIS Cellmates

Almost Killed by ISIS Cellmates, God Had a Purpose for VOM Worker Imprisoned in Sudan

PRAGUE, Czech Republic - For years he served the persecuted church with The Voice of the Martyrs. Then at the end of a trip to Sudan, Czech national Petr Jasek was arrested and charged with espionage.

He was jailed on that charge with Islamic militants and later sentenced to 20 years. But now he's free from prison and Jasek is revealing some of the details of his harrowing experience.

Near Death Experience

Shortly after his arrest, missionary Jasek was imprisoned with members of ISIS.

"One of the ISIS members was a Libyan guy who at the age of 12 was a personal guard for Osama Bin Laden in Tora Bora and later on when he returned to Libya he was one of the murderers who slaughtered the 20 Egyptians on the Libyan shore," Petr explained.

"He took out a fishing string, quite a strong fishing string from his pocket and he was showing how he could kill a person within a few seconds with this fishing string. He told me if I was an American or Russian that he would break my neck immediately and kill me."

Petr discovered his other cellmates were just as extreme. When asked to share news from the outside, he told them about the Paris terrorist attack.

"When I said the 129 people got killed they interrupted me and they started to shout, 'Allahu Akbar' for several minutes. So, immediately I knew the company that I was in and I stopped telling them anymore news," he said.

"They called me a filthy pig, or filthy rat, and if I did not react to this new name they started to beat me, slapping my face, or fist to my face and they used a wooden stick. So gradually I started to live with the new name. I was not Petr anymore, I was just 'filthy pig.'"

Persecuted Helping the Persecuted

How did it come to this? Why was this man dedicated to helping persecuted Christians now himself persecuted?

Petr's arrest came in December 2015,  just two years after the Sudanese government thought it had expelled all foreign Christian workers from the country.

While visiting Sudan, Petr met with Christian leaders and recorded some video. Agents confiscated his equipment and charged him with spying against the government.

During his first four months in jail Petr asked God to return him to his family. His epiphany came after he led some Eritrean prisoners to Christ.

His purpose? To share the Gospel.

"And I suddenly started to realize that there is a purpose, the Lord has a purpose for me to be in prison to share the Gospel with those people," Petr explained.

"And I started to be even more courageous to open my mouth and share the Gospel also with the Muslims who were in the previous cell with me," he added.

In January 2017, a Sudanese court sentenced Petr to 20 years in prison. His work helping persecuted Christians in Sudan was considered an anti-state activity - espionage.

"I really was considered to be a very dangerous person. They mentioned I am an employee of a spy organization called VOM. Actually [they believed] VOM was a spy organization [not a mission]," he said.

From Communist Persecution to Islamic Persecution

The son of a pastor, Petr had experienced persecution before while growing up in communist Czechoslovakia.

Christian oppression intensified in Czechoslovakia after Red Army tanks rolled through Prague in August 1968. Government agents constantly monitored Petr's parents and their Christian activities.

"They knew that we were receiving Bibles, and we were receiving Christian literature and we were also distributing, my parents were distributing that," he said.

One day Petr returned home from school and found his parents missing.

"They were arrested. They were arrested by secret police and interrogated. Apparently the government, the secret police, wanted to know what was going on in our house," he said.

And 36 years later, like his parents, Petr was arrested for his Christian activities  - only this time at the hands of Islamists, not communists.

But God prepared Petr for his prison experience years earlier, when his father gave him a special gift.

"Without saying much, he brought the book written by Richard Wurmbrand. The name of the book in German was En Gottis Undergrund, which means In God's Underground in English, and I was fluent in German at that time already. He gave me this book and said read this book. It will encourage your faith," Petr recalled.

His father passed away at the age of 89 while Petr was in prison.

And what did Petr think his father would say to him about his time in prison and what he went through?

"I'm quite sure that he'd be proud of me. I'm quite sure, yeah," he replied emotionally.

Petr was freed after spending 14 months in prison. He credits the Czech government for negotiating his release and the prayers and support of Christians around the world. Nearly half a million people signed a petition for him, and thousands sent encouraging cards and letters.

Petr says he was brought to tears when he heard some Sudanese women near the prison singing Christian praise songs.

Surviving Prison, by the Grace of God

How did the prison experience change him?

"When you come through this situation you realize that everything you have is the grace of God and it is on His strength that it is in prison, it is not your own strength that you can survive. Being humble and being faithful to the last moment, this is the moment when we can be more than conquerors when we go through difficult situations because of our faith in Jesus Christ," Petr explained.

A humble servant of the persecuted church, persecuted himself and then freed from prison, he is grateful for those who prayed and for learning to wait patiently on God for victory and grace.
